When Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort founded MPT in 1965 they had two principal ambitions: to get poetry out from behind the Iron Curtain into a wider circulation in English and to benefit writers and the reading public in Britain and America by confronting them with good work from abroad. They published poetry that dealt truthfully with the real contemporary world. For more than 40 years MPT has continued and widened that founding intent.

MPT builds on the first editors’ extraordinary achievement. It affirms the vital importance of poetry in the modern world. It brings the best new translations, essays and reviews that address such characteristic signs of our times as exile, the movement of peoples, the search for asylum, and the speaking of languages outside their native home.

In 2013 the editorship of MPT passes to Sasha Dugdale. The magazine, the institution and the community will continue to grow. From 2013 the magazine will be issued twice a year, and in a new layout and design – one that hearkens back to the original iconic designs of the 1960s and 70s. We will continue to publish the very best of world poetry in translation, and in each issue we will have a short focus or a ‘thread’ around the poetry of a culture or country.
HECTOR is the second periodical published by East London menswear establishment 'Hostem'.

Each issue is named after a different man and given a different
identity. His predecessor was the more delicate Sebastian, the two are not to be mistaken as allies.

Hector is an erudite activist concerned with politics, humanities and parity. This publication is designed to look like a radical newspaper. It bares itself with a defaced poster, a documentation of
the French presidential campaign by artist Pascal Fellonneau, edged with a white tag, damaged and scrawled over.

Try Hector’s guide to the remarkably private world of London’s
members clubs or gaze upon a sensitive photo shoot by Edith Bergfors entitled ‘Soa’. A clandestine fashion shoot.... HECTOR encompasses art, fashion, architecture, culture and photography in ways never previously seen in print.....

The concept of Cercle is to explore and develop a single topic (theme) throughout its 132 pages, organised around a central portfolio.

I took a drive up the Maine coast several weeks ago with a friend of mine to spend the day in the town of Rockland. Now and then my friend and I choose a town in our vicinity and take off to spend a day exploring, shopping, browsing antique shops, having lunch, and mostly talking—about work, family, life, and whatever has been going on. We look forward to these days away, a chance to discover parts of Maine we haven’t yet seen, a chance to find a great bargain (my friend is the best bargain-shopper I know), and the opportunity to spend time together venting and solving personal problems. For this trip I had chosen Rockland because I wanted to meet an artist who lives there and whose work is represented by a gallery in Rockland. I also knew we could find plenty of other things to do there for the day.
